Core Values and Behavorial Expectations
Basic behavioral expectations for our conference are stated below. These expectations are so fundamentally important that the consequences for failing to meet them could be severe, including suspension from the activities of the conference or being sent home from the conference early.
Respect for Self and Others: We expect you to show respect, tolerance, and care for yourself and for others. This includes responding to all requests and instructions given by adult chaperones at the conference or supervising a conference sponsored activity off campus.
Honesty: We expect you to be truthful in all your interactions with people.
Respect for Property: Everything at the conference belongs to someone. We expect you to respect all property and never to damage it or take it without permission of the owner.
Peaceful Resolution of Conflict: We expect you to use conflict resolution skills and communication to solve interpersonal problems.
Use or possession of Controlled Substances: We expect you never to use or have in your possession alcoholic beverages or illegal substances. Use of tobacco is also prohibited at Friends’ Central School and at all conference-supervised functions. If an offense occurs during the conference, the conference sponsors and your chaperones will take disciplinary action.
No nuts: Friends Academy is a nut free campus, so please do not bring any nuts or snacks containing nuts.
Public Displays of Affection: Behavior that is overly intimate or sexually explicit pulls those involved away from the community we are trying to create this weekend and so is not appropriate for the QYLC. Participants are prohibited from this type of behavior.
Be Here Now: There is a desire and expectation that all participants will be fully present throughout the conference. While we appreciate the need to be connected through electronic devices, we ask that they not be used during conference events including meals. Electronic devices may be used during breaks and dorm times. Please see your chaperone if you need an exception.
